Abdominal ultrasound is most commonly used for fetal imaging but has many other applications. An abdominal ultrasound is performed to examine a variety of conditions, including kidney stones, gallstones or pancreas problems, tumors, abnormal liver function etc.
An ultrasound scan of the abdomen is usually performed when a patient is experiencing abdominal pain and the cause is not obvious. It helps provide a structural view of many abdominal organs, including the kidneys liver, pancreas, bladder, prostate gland, gallbladder, uterus and ovaries.

An ultrasound also called sonography uses high-frequency sound waves transmitted through the body tissues to develop ultrasound images of what is happening inside the body by displaying it on a monitor.
This process is generally painless and do not require injections, needles or any incisions.
